MOL has opened a new polyol research and development center, named after György Mosonyi, the late CEO of MOL, in Százhalombatta, Hungary to develop polyol products that meet the needs of customers. The experimental reactor system, which is the most modern in the world, was supplied and commissioned by thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions. 90% of the other assets in the project were procured from Hungarian suppliers. The Swiss trading group Meraxis and the leading integrated Central and Eastern European oil, gas and petrochemical company MOL Group are entering into a strategic partnership. They will be joining forces to forge ahead with the development and production of polyolefin re-compounds in the future. The aim is to develop and produce high-quality recycle-based compounds and then distribute them worldwide.

A new Olefins Conversion Technology (OCT) Unit will be built at MOL Petrochemicals' site in Tiszaújváros . The unit will have a production capacity of 100,000 MTA of polymer grade propylene. The project is expected to be completed in 2023.
