Ethylene
Ethylene is produced by cracking naphtha, and it is one of the basic raw materials of polyethylene as well as of random and heterophasic PP copolymer production. MOL Group runs two naphtha crackers with a total of 660 kt/a ethylene capacity in Tiszújváros, Hungary, and one naphtha cracker in Bratislava, Slovakia, with 220 kt/a ethylene capacity. The Hungarian crackers are running with LINDE technology, the Bratislava cracker is running with ABB Lummus technology. The majority of the produced ethylene is consumed within MOL Group; however, a small portion is sold via a pipeline to contracted partners.
