Development of automotive-grade virgin plastics, compounds and recycled plastic-based products

There is a demand for high-quality recycled plastics from a wide range of industries, including the automotive industry.

MOL aims to develop new formulations of virgin plastics, compounds and recycled plastic-based products with favourable odour properties to meet market demand, primarily in the automotive industry.

The methods we use to achieve this goal include the modification of virgin plastic production technologies and process parameters, the fine-tuning of the composition of the components used (e.g. additive systems) and the impact assessment of post-production technologies to reduce volatiles (e.g. de-gassing).

The reduction of VOC content of plastic products and the development of new products require a combination and complex knowledge of the above-mentioned solutions.

The R&D project is well aligned with MOL's strategic objectives, as one of its goals is to reduce VOC emissions and improve the odour properties of recycled plastic products, thus contributing to the circular economy.

If the development of the products is successful, MOL could gain a significant market advantage at European level, competing successfully with products from industry leaders.
