Battery Energy Storage Development at MOL Petrochemicals

RRF-6.5.1-23-2024-00008

MOL Group is committed to achieving sustainable energy supply and mobility. In addition to increasing energy efficiency, electrification is the most important task.

MOL is building an electricity storage system with a nominal capacity of 20 MW and an energy storage capacity of 40 MWh at the MOL Petrochemicals site.

The battery energy storage investment aims to participate in the balancing market operated by MAVIR. If MAVIR requests a reduction in the consumption at the Tiszaújváros site, the energy storage will provide the electricity lost from the public grid to maintain production. If more current comes in, it switches to charging mode.

The project will be implemented under the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) scheme. The selected partner will be responsible for the design, permitting, procurement, supply, construction and commissioning of the electricity storage facility.
